Two masterpieces by Peter Breuer

Choreographer Peter Breuer is known for telling gripping stories with his ballet evenings. In his double work "Carmen / Boléro", he once again devotes himself to deeply human and touching aspects of life.

"Carmen is not only an artistic figure, but also a cult figure who leaves a lasting impression in the world of ballet and beyond. She embodies the longing for freedom, adventure and passion - and at the same time dances with death. Carmen is a projection screen for our dreams and fears, and she does everything to ensure that this fascination endures. Based on Prosper Mérimée's novella, Breuer has created a gripping narrative ballet that captivates the audience. He combines the dramatic story with Rodion Shchedrin's "Carmen Suite" and the sonorous rhythms of Radio Tarifa to create an impressive experience.

The brilliant second part of this evening is the finale from Breuer's "Boléro", which is based on Arthur Schnitzler's novella "Der Reigen". With a special passion that only dance can convey, this choreography shows the different facets of human relationships. In this work, the dancers unfold the complexity of love, desire and disappointment and invite the audience to empathize with the emotional currents of the characters.
