Michael Kropf, former ballet director of Bühne Baden and President of the Austrian Dance Council from December 2023, was delighted to receive the unexpected "Karl Musil Prize". The award was presented by Evelyn Terry at the European Ballet's fall gala.
Michael Kropf was one of Karl Musil's first students and the first to reach dance stage maturity with him at the age of fifteen. Karl Musil was an Austrian dancer and soloist from 1939 to 2013 and was engaged by the Vienna State Opera in 1965. The Karl Musil Prize is awarded annually in October by the Austrian Dance Council. It is the highest award in the field of dance presented in Austria.
Kropf lives and loves dance and has worked as a choreographer and trainer both nationally and internationally since the end of his active dance career. He commented on his nomination: "This award came completely unexpectedly for me and spurs me on to become even more committed to dance."
